Osinbajo cannot replace Buhari in 2019 if president dies – Northern Elders

Chairman of Northern Elders Forum, Professor Ango Abdullahi, has maintained that should President Muhammadu Buhari’s failing health prevents him from seeking re-election in 2019, the North must retain the presidency.

Abdullahi stressed that the region must be allowed to field a presidential candidate through the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2019 should Buhari fail to seek re-election.

The don said in the situation of any eventuality, the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo should be allowed to complete the current tenure but will not be allowed to contest in 2019.

Speaking with New Telegraph, Abdullahi said, “The constitutional provision says that in the event that the president dies in office or becomes incapacitated for one reason or the other and cannot perform the duties of his office, he will be succeeded by the Vice president.

“But no one is in a position to know at what point he is going to recover fully and come back to office, or whether the unexpected could happen. The northern elders insist that Osinbajo cannot replace Buhari in 2019

“If the worst case scenario happens, and Buhari is not back on seat, the constitution is very clear that the vice president takes over.

“And what we then expect is that he will take that tenure to its logical end and from there, the politics of power sharing will take precedence over anything else.

“When the unexpected happens, in 2019 we will be back to our position that the north should be treated equitably and fairly.

“And we expect that another northern candidate will emerge as presidential candidate on the platform of APC.”

34-year-old Alleged Nigerian Billionaire Declares Ambition to Run for Presidency in 2019

A Nigerian man has raised the political bar by revealing that he will contest in 2019 to become the President of Nigeria.

A Nigerian man Ibrahim Abubaka Lajada, 34 reported to be a billionaire and living abroad has declared his intention to run for presidency in 2019.

He made this public through his Facebook post. According to Lajada, it is time for the youths to lead the country and steer it away from the numerous obstacles militating against its growth.

Writing about what he intends to change if given the opportunity, he explained: "This is what I will do when I'm President. I would strive to accomplish these three major things. First, I would strengthen our educational system, second, I will improve economic growth and fight corruption and lastly, I would make certain that everyone has equal and fair treatment in our society.

Our education system in Nigeria is not one in which we should be very proud of. Yes, Nigeria does have excellent schools, colleges, and learning institutions, but our standards are not set as high as other countries. For example, our country does not fund our schools adequately. Teachers teach with not enough books, no supplies, or books that are often over 30 years old.

How can we expect our children to be up to date with the worlds information if our teaching materials are not new? Often teachers in our public schools are forced to buy text books and supplies for our children with their own personal money. Why do they do this? Because they believe in a good education for all learners. Our country "prides" itself on the quality of education a person can receive here, yet teachers are one of the countries lowest paid professionals. Some of our teachers are not well qualified."

However, many people have expressed doubt about his abilities as he is yet to contribute anything meaningful to his community before nursing the ambition to lead the country.
